My First Hem

I'm, currently taking a sewing class.  This is my first project.  To remove the hem off of an article of clothing and resew that hem.
This is the skirt I’ve decided to practice hemming on.  These pictures are of the original factory hem.  The fabric is a jersey knit.  When I took these pictures I was blissfully unaware of the challenge I just gave myself.

When I started removing the hem, I was not fully aware that I would want to leave the finishing seam alone. So, I went ahead and removed all of it; the hem and the finished seam.
So, I decided to watch a few YouTube videos. I settled on a zig-zag stitch because, apparently, I like a challenge.  Here are the pictures of my finished finishing seam. I used white thread for visibility in pictures.

And last but not least is the picture of my finished hem.  This was incredibly frustrating, but I stuck with it and finished the whole thing.  It’s not the prettiest thing on the planet, but it’s mine.  I did it!  I wanted to stick it out because I have already chosen Jersey Knit for my pajamas material.  Jersey Knit is my favorite material to wear so it gives me determination and drive to get better at sewing with it.   So here’s the final hem… I staggered the skirt ends so that you can simultaneously see a right side and a wrong side.
